Kiwanis Club of Benicia

The Kiwanis Club of Benicia hosted the Easter Bunny for the 61st time!

Benicia City Park was once again the site of the Benicia Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt last Sunday. From noon to 2pm the park filled with children as they got their faces painted, participated in Sack Races, danced to music, blew bubbles, and shot off Water Rockets. Local Benicia Scouting Units hopped on down to the park with the Easter Bunny and helped the Kiwanis members spreading eggs and shoot the Water Rockets.

The Kiwanis Club of Benicia greatly enjoys organizing and gifting their Egg Hunt to the children of Benicia and beyond. It is one of the very few free, non denominational, celebrations of the Easter/Spring break in the Bay Area. The mission of Kiwanis is to improve the world one child and one community at a time. So the Annual Hunt allows the club to see the fruits of their efforts in the smiles and laughter of all the children and families that attend each year.
Beyond their Easter Egg Hunt, the Kiwanis Club of Benicia has been providing the Benicia Unified School District with AEDs for over a decade. So that in 2018 when California mandated that AEDs be placed in all schools our School District was already compliant and didn’t have to budget or organize the placement of the required lifesaving devices or instruction.

Keeping an eye on the future also keeps the club busy funding academic and trade scholarships, supporting Benicia’s Cub Scout Pack, music programs, Benicia High School’s Speech & Debate Team and of course the club’s astonishing and awarded BHS Key Club who come out every year and help with the hunt. The club is also involved and excited about the Benicia Reads program that is dedicating to making sure that every student is reading at grade level by the 3rd grade.

Kiwanis clubs, located in 80 nations, help their communities in countless ways. Each community needs are different so each Kiwanis club is different. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed, and thrive, great things happen.
